Becca’s in the paper tonight. She’s not as excited about the picture as she thought she would be!

We have a new baby in the family. Addyson Leigh (I hope I have the spelling correct) was born last night at 7:58 pm. She was supposed to be born in Davenport, but couldn’t wait to meet everyone, so she was born here in town. Luckily for Melissa, she has great connections and Dr. Jabbari came out of retirement to deliver for her! I’m thinking it wasn’t too bad of a deal for him…Melissa got to the OB floor at 7:50 and delivered 8 minutes later, so he’ll probably get paid pretty well for his time!
Cory & I had to represent this side of the family because Melissa’s mom and her dad and my mom are all out of town…what kind of grandparents leave 2 weeks before d-day! (just kidding, guys!!) She’s a beautiful baby who looks just like big sister Isabel did when she was born. I forgot my camera today, but I’m sure we’ll have some cousin shots soon, because Becca & Emma are already whining about going to visit!
Johnny, Betsy & Charlie came out on Thursday. Becca & Emma were gone, but the babies all got to visit. Since we have so much firewood out here, we decided to start a bonfire. The weather was perfect for sitting around a fire. It’s nice to have Johnny back so we can see him more often. (Now we’ll see if he checks my blog or not…I’m sure he’ll have a comment for that!!)

Lucy and Charlie (just like the peanuts cartoon!)
My baby is 7 months old already – I can hardly believe it! He gets around so fast now – there is really no peace at my house. There’s been a few days lately when I’m counting the minutes until naptime so I can sit down! Even if he is into everything now, I still think he is one of the cutest babies ever.
Monday morning, Scott was at work, and I had all the kids in the basement. I was sitting on the couch, looking out the basement door watching the baby swing fly straight up into the air and whip around in every direction. Thank goodness no one was really awake enough to be too scared. We had some damage, but really more of an inconvience that real problems – considering some people are still without power 4 days later!
The most dramatic damage was the big oak tree that was by our driveway. My van was sitting outside, just on the other side of the gravel. Thank goodness the tree split the way it did or my van would have been crunched…and possibly our garage too. Scott, Dale, and my dad have all been working on getting it cleaned up.
Our house looks so bare now. We need to start planting more trees!
Scott’s parents’ pull barn door was blown into the barn. Amazingly, it didn’t hit either of the campers inside.
Emma had so much fun playing T-ball this summer. She might not be on the US Olympic Softball team anytime soon, but she loved it! There was only one other little girl on her team, and Emma was of course the smallest, so she did get coddled a bit by the coaches. I wish that wouldn’t happen, but she is so darn cute & little, it is hard not to.
Roundin’ 3rd, heading for home!
One of her better stops and throws to 1st -
Maybe one of the most entertaining skills she picked up -
I was planning on posting about how Brady can scoot himself around…but I’m too late – he is officially crawling now! I gets tired and plops down to the old army crawl every once in awhile, but he is staying on his hands and knees more and more everyday. At Joyce’s house today, he even pulled himself up to the toy box – but I’m going to discourage that if at all possible! I don’t want my baby to get big!
He did get himself into the coffee table one morning.
And this is just a cute picture of the two of them.
Both Becca & Emma went to Camp Abe Lincoln again this year. Emma went to the day camp. Every morning we had to be at the Y at 8:30 to catch the bus. Then we would pick her up at 4:30. She had so much fun. By the end of camp she was exhausted! Going all day long was good practice for kindergarten though.
This year there were 4 kids from town that road the bus and Emma knew them all. One was even Lucy B. from preschool – she was so excited & surprised to see her the 1st day!!
Becca went to overnight camp for 3 nights. We took her on Sunday afternoon and picked her up on Wednesday evening. It was the week of the 4th, so it was a short week. Next year, she says she wants to do horse camp. I’m glad she likes going away to camp, but it’s just another one of those things that shows me just how grown-up she’s getting.
Becca in her bunk -
Becca, Madi, Sammy-
My aunt, cousin and her daughter from the Seattle area came to visit the last week of June. Becca and Emma had so much fun with Jaden.
This worked out pretty well. I’m not sure why I haven’t tried it again with my kids!?!
I have to say, I was being a good sport about taking pictures here – I had barely had time to take a shower on this day (not unlike many other days!), let alone do my hair or put on make-up! I apparently also didn’t have time to put pants on Lucy – my mom is unsuccessfully trying to hide her diaper.
Not quite sure why bot Kim & I have our eyes closed???
Emma & Jaden got to spend some extra time together after Becca left for camp. They are less than 2 months apart in age and enjoyed spending time together and with their Mimi’s (grandmas). Someday I hope we’ll make the journey out to Washington to see them.
A final goodbye!
We went to a friend’s wedding in June. It was great to see a bunch of our friends.
It seemed like the perfect opportunity for a family picture…well, it didn’t work out quite like we planned!
First we forgot to take off the sunglasses-
Then none of the kids were feeling so smiley-
They had fun for the brief time they were at the reception.
The girls liked watching Skip & Janelle’s 1st dance-

Jimmy & baby #2 (much later in the evening – it seemed like such a good idea at the time!) -
